Issue One Action launches “Make Voting Safe” advertising campaign

A $750,000 broadcast and digital advertising campaign urging Congress to make voting safe

Washington, DC – June 19, 2020 –  Issue One Action is urging Congress to make voting safe by providing funding so that all states and local authorities have access to the resources they need to hold safe elections in the fall, as part of a $750,000 TV and digital advertising campaign launching this week.

The ad features former Republican Representative Zach Wamp (R-TN), Co-Chair of Issue One’s ReFormers Caucus, a group of over 200 former members of Congress, governors, and Cabinet officials that is the largest bipartisan coalition of its kind ever assembled to advocate for solutions to fix our broken political system.

"This fall our elections will be tested, and millions of Americans fear going to the polls," Wamp says in the video. "From the Civil War to the Great Depression, we've carried out safe elections during crisis. Many Republican governors are expanding absentee voting options, and they need Congress's help. Tell Congress to give states the resources they need to make voting safe and secure."

The ad will run in a national cable buy on Fox News next week, airing on Fox News Sunday, Fox & Friends, The Five, Special Report with Bret Baier, and Hannity.

The ad is part of Issue One Action’s “Make Voting Safe” campaign—a $750,000 broadcast and digital advertising campaign, with digital ads running in Iowa, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Ohio.

“The campaign makes clear to Senate Republicans that it is both right and politically safe for them to work to ensure that states have the resources they need to administer safe and secure elections this year amid the coronavirus pandemic,” said Issue One Action Founder and CEO Nick Penniman.

We wanted to inject the voice of a conservative Republican into the ongoing conversation about how to ensure the 2020 elections are safe and secure. Failure to act now will result in chaos on Election Day. Americans should not be forced to choose between their health and exercising their right to vote,” Penniman continued.
